In a severely negative evaluation, the security review board asserted that the nation is "nowhere near" where it needs to be to adequately defend itself and its partners, especially during a time when military risks to the continent are "significant".

The examination found that the nation is falling short of its Nato obligations and dropping "far short" of its asserted leadership position.

The assessment was published as the military department selected potential areas for multiple new ammunition plants, constituting a comprehensive plan to increase national weapons output.

Earlier this year, the Defence Secretary announced proposals to move Britain to "war-fighting readiness", including substantial funding to support the establishment of new ammunition facilities.

However, following an lengthy investigation, the security review board alerted that the nation and its European Nato allies were still overly dependent on the United States and did not allocate adequate funds on their independent security.

"The Russian leader's violent attack of the Eastern European country, unrelenting disinformation campaigns, and frequent breaches into regional air territory mean that we must not allow ourselves to ignore reality," stated the committee chair.

The committee head further stated that the group had "frequently encountered worries about the nation's capability to secure itself from attack".

The particular recommendations included a call for the government to accelerate the rate of industrial change and make "preparedness" a primary goal.

The continent's substantial counting on the United States in critical areas such as "intelligence, satellites, soldier deployment and air-to-air refuelling" was also underwent criticism in the assessment.
