The domestic football league local clash involving one local team and Hapoel Tel Aviv was abandoned before the start on the weekend, due to what police characterized as "crowd trouble and serious disturbances".

"Many of smoke devices and pyrotechnic devices were set off," law enforcement announced on digital channels, noting "this cannot be considered a football game, it represents chaos and serious violence".

Twelve people and three officers were injured, authorities reported, while several individuals were arrested and 16 questioned by police.

The clashes come just a short time after representatives in the United Kingdom announced that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans cannot be permitted to go to the European competition match at Aston Villa in Britain the following month because of security issues.

One team censured the match postponement, alleging authorities of "gearing up for a battle, not a sporting event", including during meetings in the preparation to the highly-anticipated encounter.

"The alarming events near the arena and following the irresponsible and scandalous ruling to abandon the fixture only demonstrate that the law enforcement has seized authority in the football," Hapoel Tel Aviv said in a statement.

Maccabi Tel Aviv has remained silent, merely stating the fixture was abandoned.

The judgment by security authorities to exclude Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from the English fixture on 6 November has sparked extensive disapproval.

The government officials has since said it is seeking to cancel the restriction and investigating what extra measures might be necessary to guarantee the game can be conducted securely.

The English club notified their matchday stewards that they did not have to work at the match, stating they recognized that some "could be worried".

On Thursday, West Midlands Police stated it backed the restriction and classified the fixture as "concerning" based on intelligence and earlier occurrences.

That included "serious fights and discrimination incidents" between the Dutch team and Maccabi Tel Aviv fans prior to a match in Amsterdam in the previous year, when over sixty individuals were taken into custody.

There have been demonstrations at several games over the war in Gaza, such as when Israel faced the Scandinavian team and the European team in latest qualification games.
