• Three major oil corporations held discussions with officials 100 times between them.

An ecological representative commented: "In place of listening to experts, populations impacted by climate events, or families desperate to ensure a secure tomorrow for their future generations, this leadership is favoring industry advocates and profits for major petroleum companies."

Government Rebuttal

Ministers maintained the findings were "inaccurate", saying numerous of the firms mentioned also had sustainable power initiatives and that these were typically the main topic of the discussions.

"Our primary objective is a just, orderly and successful change in the offshore region in accordance with our environmental and statutory commitments, and we are cooperating with the sector to safeguard existing and upcoming populations of decent work."

Several prominent petroleum industry giants have been condemned for reducing their green funding in recent times amid a global pushback against ecological initiatives.

An activist coordinator from an climate legal group commented: "Ministers pledged a people-focused leadership, but that isn't equivalent to bowing the knee to businesses making money out of climate catastrophe. It's essential to cease favoring polluters and put people first."
