A senior Russian military figure has been fatally wounded following an detonation in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

Sarvarov was the head of the armed forces' department for training operations.

Investigators mentioned that one possible explanation involves the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. To date, Ukraine has remained silent.

History of Incidents

Since the start of the large-scale conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military commanders have been attacked within Moscow.

This new event follows other notable incidents, for instance:

  • General Yaroslav Moskalik was lost his life in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
  • General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a device concealed on a scooter was triggered from afar.

While a informant previously linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such claims are never formally acknowledged as a matter of official stance.

The conflict has increasingly seen covert operations reaching into the streets of the Russian capital.

The investigation into General Sarvarov's death is still underway.
