Preview the Remastered Classic Journey: This Free Demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Lands Shortly.
Players looking forward to the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait the full month. An exciting trial experience will release on January 7th, offering a substantial look into the game's opening hours. Importantly, any advancement achieved within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the full game upon its February debut.
More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Thorough Reimagining
This title represents a from-scratch reinterpretation of the iconic year 2000 role-playing game, initially released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from recent series re-releases, such as the previously released HD-2D versions, this reimagining adopts a striking three-dimensional art style. Environments are designed to resemble detailed dioramas, with characters featuring a whimsical stylized look.
"Considering the previous remake, the main quest was remained notoriously extended. Consequently, the team came to a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this experience for today's audiences."
Major Mechanical Enhancements and Modernizations
The development team has implemented several modernizations to refresh the original experience. Among these are:
- Quick Field Battles: Inspired by modern RPGs, low-level monsters can now be defeated instantly on the field without entering a full traditional combat sequence.
- Adjustable Combat Pace: Players can speed up combat animations to rapidly power through simpler encounters.
- New Vocation Mechanics: A brand new character role was created for this remake. Additionally, party members now have the ability to take on a second job, significantly expanding strategic depth.
Such changes are designed to tackle a key the original game's common criticisms: its immense playtime. That initial storyline could easily take more than 100 hours to complete. This reimagined version has been specifically designed to enhance pacing and reduce any filler.
