Patrick Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Leading Abusive Songs About Manager Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of Sheffield United only seven months following starting derogatory taunts targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has agreed to a agreement joining the second-tier strugglers through the winter. His lengthy spell with Leeds was ended by mutual consent this past summer.

Among the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting insulting songs regarding Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party this spring. Currently, the former England international will feature under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to lift his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous History Involving the Striker & Wilder

Both men had a past before Leeds earned promotion back to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won automatic promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

All appears to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement up front and Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his playing days.

The Wilder chant spread widely in April. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder commented back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I have no problem at all with that. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow pro! However I valued and admired him calling me.

“We spent a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion together and he's a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of football across all levels, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Challenges

The forward made 18 appearances for Leeds in the previous campaign but the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough striker has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
