Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
