Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in chaos and mayhem with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose projects have represented all of those things.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' format by having a different location and ensemble in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady confidence and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the essence of people through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
